n brief, 13 scientists of the Universität Münster have teamed up with their complementary expertise to study the chemical biology of ion channels ("Chembion").

The interdisciplinary research activities are centered on five topics:
ligand recognition, subtype-specific modulation, molecular imaging, molecular and cellular physiology and integrative (patho)physiology.

We tackle physiological questions in the field of ion channels with innovative chemical methods, interconnecting chemistry, pharmacy, and medicine and foster the internationalization of young researchers.

What we are looking for:
An ambitious postdoctoral research associate with a fitting research idea to be included in our multidisciplinary team.

Your tasks:

  • You will have the opportunity to develop a unique research project, enriching the topics of Chembion with your own expertise.
  • Depending on the research project, you will be integrated in one or two of Chembion's groups, allowing you to develop your own research guided by the corresponding PIs.
  • You will take part in board meetings of Chembion and participate in symposia, retreats, and seminars.
  • You will also act as a contact person for doctoral researchers, regarding research related questions.

Our expectations:

  • A very good and fast completion of a doctorate in natural science or medicine.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research in the field of chemical biology of ion channels.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • German language skills are not required, but the willingness to learn German is expected.
  • Teamoriented, good communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Expertise complementing the Chembion portfolio is welcome

This could include either:

  • Expertise in additional ion channels, that are not yet covered by Chembion.
or in

  • Novel imaging techniques, development of novel tool compounds, optogenetic tools, MS analysis of proteins, complex network analysis or patchclamp fluorimetry.
The University of Münster strongly supports equal opportunity and diversity.

We welcome all applicants regardless of sex, nationality, ethnic or social background, religion or worldview, disability, age, sexual orientation or gender identity.

We are committed to creating family-friendly working conditions. Part-time options are generally available.
