JOB PURPOSE

A fantastic opportunity has now arisen as we are actively seeking to recruit an
Assembly Team Leader to join our team at our Head Office in Whitchurch & Satellite Office in Andover.

This is a hands-on role, as you will connect and assemble metal parts into more complex components ready for inspection, but you will also be responsible for leading the Assembly Team, handling the day-to-day management of the Assembly operation.

We are looking for an experienced, hard-working, meticulous individual who will ensure the key performance indicators of safety, customer service, quality, and cost are delivered and who will most importantly match the values we aspire to achieve at R E Thompson.

Key Tasks

  • Work to ensure people and resources are applied in efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards.
  • Ensure that the team members follow defined assembly procedures and comply with quality requirements.
  • Responsible for implementing the use of internal systems and softwares to increase productivity, efficiency and business improvements.
  • Deliver training to team on internal systems. i.e. 1Factory and Epicor
  • Work in collaboration with other functions to fully define the process/procedures/controls relevant to team activities.
  • Feedback to the management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality and delivery to meet/exceed customer requirements.
  • Read and understand instruction and follow established procedures.
  • Collect all material and equipment needed to begin the process.
  • Take precision measurements to ensure perfect fit of components.
  • Align material and put together parts to build more complex units.
  • Check output thoroughly to ensure the highest standards of quality.
  • Report all issues, malfunctions or defective parts.
  • Assessing team performance and providing feedback to employees.
  • Assisting with hiring and training employees.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment
Qualifications*Essential:
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and recognised QC tool
Knowledge*Essential:
  • To be able to assemble parts following drawings.
  • Technical knowledge and ability to read blueprints, drawing and plans.
  • Understanding of quality control principles
Skills*Essential:
  • Work independently, reviewed infrequently with mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time.
  • Ability to plan, analyse and challenge.
  • Strong understanding of all people related processes and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
  • Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and rework.

What we offer
£30k - £35k basic

25 days holiday (increasing on length of service) + public holidays

Salary:
£30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
