JOB PURPOSE

St Vincent's Hospice provides excellent patient care and is on a journey of continuous improvement in both clinical services and the functions that support them e.g.

housekeeping, catering. HR, governance etc.


We have been rapidly improving across many areas simultaneously; however, our capacity to record and evidence our quality improvements has not always matched the speed of our improvement work.


The interim post of Quality Improvement Lead will directly support the Director of Care and Quality, ensuring a _comprehensive_ and _systematic_ approach to quality improvement within the organisation, linking that to the Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) Quality Framework.


The post-holder will also deliver, under leadership and direction from the Director of Care and Quality, our ambition to be "Inspection Ready" at all times.


DIMENSIONS OF ROLE

  • To prepare a comprehensive selfevaluation for the organisation against the HIS Quality Framework.
  • To identify gaps in evidence required to demonstrate performance against the framework and to work with stakeholders to complete the necessary evidence base.
  • To identify gaps in performance against the framework, and to work with internal stakeholders to design and manage quality improvement (QI) initiatives to address these shortfalls.
  • To support QI initiatives in terms of design, tools and engagement.
  • To ensure that all QI initiatives are driven from a serviceuser perspective.
  • To ensure that all QI activities are designed to be inclusive, including our geographical community, BAME communities, LGBTQ+ communities and the diversity of faith communities that we serve.
  • To provide education to hospice team members in relation to the HIS Quality Framework.
  • To take delegated management responsibility from the Director of Care and Quality for the daytoday management of Quality Department monitoring and management tools e.g. incident reporting, Duty of Candour reporting, IPOS (patient feedback) etc.
  • To prepare for review by the Director of Care and Quality both regular and adhoc Quality Reports required by The SVH Board/its committees and by its regulator.
  • To provide direction and supervision for the Quality Assistant within the Quality Team.

ROLE OF TEAM

The Quality Team is aligned with the clinical management structure to support the implementation of St Vincent's Hospice's Quality Aims on an organisation-wide basis.

Its purpose is to lead, support, co-ordinate and integrate the many and varied strands of transformational, QI and service change activity across the organisation.
