Apprentice Scaffolding Support Operative - Yard

Day rate:

PPE and Uniform provided.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week.
Typically, 7am to 4 pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 7 am to 4 pm.

Reporting to the Yard Manager, we are seeking a driven, productive and safety conscious Scaffolding
Support Operative with an interest of becoming Scaffolder through the Level 2 Scaffolder apprenticeship scheme.

Scaffolding Support Operative - Job Duties:

  • Working with the Logistics Manager and Yard Manager and alongside other members of the team you will initially work in the yard and be responsible for:
  • Helping with loading and unloading lorries.
  • Repairing scaffolding equipment in line with scaffolding guidance, regulatory and legislative standards.
  • After suitable training, operating the forklift as required.
  • Working and supporting other members of the team to ensure that the yard and warehouse are kept clean and tidy.
  • Establishing and maintaining Scaffteq's yard to the highest standards and best practice in relation to yard organisation.
  • Undertaking minor repairs to the buildings and/or equipment at the yard as required.
  • Complying with our Health and Safety Policy, Risk, Method and COSHH Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Ensuring yard accidents are fully reported to Scaffteq management, with all documentation appropriately completed.
After a suitable period working in the yard, the Scaffolding Support Operative will have the option to join the apprenticeship programme and will be trained to work on construction sites and be responsible for:

  • Ensuring site compounds are structured and kept in order so Scaffolders can access the equipment safely and efficiently, correctly stacked by size and type to maximise efficiency.
  • To work on active construction sites following company health and safety rules along with specific site instructions and controls.
  • Carry out scaffolding activities in accordance with the relevant experience and qualifications.

Scaffolding Support Operative - Skills/Attributes/Qualifications:

  • Keenness to work in construction.
  • An advocate for excellence in all aspects of health and safety constructions practices, and 'leading from the front' with scaffolding practices, always wearing full PPE kits.
  • Ability to constantly seek new and improved ways to enhance Scuffle's business practices.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with excellent communication skills.
  • Positive professional attitude and manner with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Flexible approach and a willingness to learn new skills and tasks and share that knowledge with others in the team.
  • Clean driving licence.
