Scope:

Responsible for the financial management of Toshiba's UK business activities in partnership with the European Shared Service Centre.


Key purpose of role:

The Business Unit Controller will fulfil the role of Business Partner with key stakeholders across the business, and provide Commercial support to the General Manager, providing key analysis in driving business performance:

  • Jointly responsible for the development business strategy, and in accordance develop and implement the IMT/country finance strategy into place
  • Responsible for the management reporting/analysis, in charge of controlling key KPI's, checking variances against forecasts, budget, plan.
  • Leading the activities of the IMT/Country Finance department and coordinating the activities of the European Shared Service Center (SSC).
  • Responsible for executing all controlling and reporting tasks,.
  • In charge of the preparation of forecasts, budgets and monthly reports
  • Role of approver (Blackline and other DOA if needed)
  • Supporting, advising and facilitating business growth, utilizing relevant financial analysis and business insight.

Workplace:

Remote-first policy with some travel to central London.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Prepare financial planning and budgeting. Ultimately responsible for the annual budget, the MTBP, budget amendments, the annual accounts/annual report, and conducts the consultations about this in the organization
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting.
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic Finance policy and takes responsibility for its delivery within the UK.
  • Translate the organizational objectives into tactical and operational Finance policy and plans. Responsible for correct implementation within the function.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the implementation and taking improvement actions.
  • Inform and advise the board and management, solicited and unsolicited, with regard to Finance matters
  • Providing guidance and support so that employees have the right knowledge and competences to perform their tasks in the best possible way and achieve the agreed results.
  • Optimizing the collaboration of the various departments within the organization
  • Mapping, analyzing, and managing cash flows.
  • This is not an exhaustive list, and you may be asked to carry out other activities throughout your employment.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
  • Controlling Business Partner background
  • IT skills, including MS Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge in Oracle and Adaptive would be of an advantage
  • Excellent communicator with ability to build effective working relationships across all business areas.
  • Team player who can challenge and influence at all levels in the organization.
  • Commercial mindset with excellent analytical skills.
  • Keen attention to detail, able to reconcile data and inclined to doublecheck findings as to avoid errors.
  • Able to work on own initiative with a continuous improvement mindset, inclined to seek out solutions.
  • Resilient with ability to problem solve and respond to changes quickly.
  • Ability to operate at tactical/operational level and strategically. Able to take a 'hands on' approach.
