Description

An exciting opportunity has become available within a precision engineering manufacturer for an experienced and confident supervisor for the stores and despatch areas.

You will be responsible for all inventory control related activities. You will also be focusing on the outbound distribution of goods to customers both UK based and worldwide.


Main duties:


  • To liaise with your team effectively communicating assembly work flow and priorities
  • Direct and control work assignments of the team
  • To motivate staff and lead by example demonstrating best practise at all times
  • Deal with internal issues proactively and within the correct procedure
  • Effectively manage a small team in relation to all aspects of their performance
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of new members of staff and complete their staff induction
  • Maintain attendance, timekeeping and control holiday requests of the team
  • Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality
  • Attend regular production meetings and report accordingly
  • Develop and implement KPI's
  • Ensure that the work carried out is completed to a very high standard, meeting customer expectations at all times
  • Develop the company's inventory management strategy with the aim of controlling costs within budgetary limits, generating savings, realizing inventory and maximizing available work capital
  • Manage and maintain the company's material and stocked product inventory including stock profiles and locations
  • Manage and control perpetual inventory stock counting / inventory accuracy checks and stock checks
  • Minimize overstock and removal of obsolete /redundant raw materials to maximize availability of working capital
  • Write and maintain accurate written procedures for all main control processes and functions
  • Ensure works orders are correct and fully completed and that all stock has been allocated to the job correctly
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of the stock management system
  • Manage control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved
  • Oversee the processing, picking, packing and dispatch of goods
  • Full working knowledge of the company's MRP system
  • Maintain a proactive approach to Health Safety, Environment and Quality

Skills needed:


  • Experience in supervising a small team within an Engineering/Manufacturing environment.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills with good organisational skills
  • A hands on approach and good understanding of H&S
  • Ability to lead a team and build strong relationships
