Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Health and Care Partnership are committed to making BLMK a great place to work, learn and live; this role will support our work to promote career opportunities to our local residents.


This exciting new role will support the Workforce Development Academy to plan and deliver projects aimed increasing apprenticeship numbers (attraction and supply), build stronger links between the Bedfordshire Health and Care Academy (Home | Bedfordshire Health and Care Academy )) and apprenticeships and support our widening access initiatives.


Join the team and help us ensure that our workforce represents the population that it serves by promoting apprenticeships and other widening access opportunities so that everyone can see the brilliant range of jobs and careers available in our health and social care settings.


The postholder will work closely with our Apprentice Leads Network, made up of representatives from our health and social care/local authority organisations to support the implementation of our apprenticeship strategy.

As part of the Talent for Care agenda, this role will also support initiatives linked to widening access and participation in NHS careers and volunteeringTalent for care | Health Education England )

The post would suit someone with demonstrable experience of working in a large complex organisation.


The role will involve working with a large range of different organisations so experience in stakeholder management will be essential.

Experience of apprenticeship frameworks and/or careers promotion is desirable but not essential.

Ability to travel to other sites within the BLMK area will be needed on occasion.


Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board (BLMK ICB) is an ambitious organisation positioned to deliver real improvements in safety, outcomes and experience for its local population of 1 million.

BLMK ICB is responsible for planning, organising and purchasing NHS funded healthcare for people living in the region. It is run and led by local clinicians, including GP's, nurses and hospital doctors.

Our overall aims are to ensure innovative, responsive and effective clinical commissioning and that our population has access to the highest quality healthcare providing the best patient experience within available resources.

We achieve this by working in partnership with our member practices and localities, with patients and the public, with local councils and other healthcare providers.


This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the ICS People Function and HEE on local and regional workforce priorities to improve the apprenticeship and career opportunities offer both within Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board / Integrated Care System, and to the wider healthcare system.


The postholder is required to:


  • To work as part of the BLMK Workforce Development Academy Team, utilising a standardised approach to project management, to deliver key outcomes and objectives across a range of projects.
  • To be responsible for information gathering and analysis to support the delivery of workstream plans.
  • To participate in working groups, programme boards and other forums to provide information, project updates and analysis of evaluations to help inform ongoing project management and planning.
  • To organise meetings/events as directed by the Senior Workforce Transformation Project Manager as part of related programmes of work.
  • To work with members of the team to develop and implement project data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data.
  • To communicate information and issues, including through briefings and reports where necessary, to the team.
  • To provide information on workstream progress upon request, when needed.
  • To produce regular workstream status reports and exception reports, where necessary.
  • To analyse workstream data and performance and ensure contingency plans are in place, where necessary.
  • To contribute to the development of key performance indicators for successful assessment of performance.
  • To establish and maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders, such as health, social care, schools, colleges, Job Centre Plus
  • To undertake scoping and research on strategic and service development/transformation issues as directed by the Senior Workforce Transformation Project Manager.
  • To assist with translating workstream information into business cases for review and approval by the Education Partnership and Workforce Modelling and Supply sub-groups of the People Board
  • To regularly undertake research and development activity aligned to projects and service performance.
  • To undertake complex audits/surveys related to programme and complex facts or situations, requiring analysis, interpretation, or a comparison of a range of options.
