Behaviour Support Assistant needed in Tameside

Role Overview:


  • Start ASAP
  • Full time & long term until July 202
  • Could turn permanent for right person.
  • Excellent pay up to £95/day.
  • Supporting secondary aged pupils in small groups with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).
  • Based at a secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Tameside catering for young people that struggle within mainstream settings.


As a Behaviour Support Assistant at this Secondary PRU in Tameside you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning but also emotional and mental health needs.

This Secondary PRU specialises in catering for children who may face challenges related to social, emotional or mental health difficulties and vulnerable backgrounds.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support on a onetoone basis or in small groups
  • Supporting individuals with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties
  • Assisting those with mental health needs and anxiety
  • Provide holistic support based around social, emotional, behavioural, physical, mental & academic progress.
  • Collaborating with the SEN team, senior leaders, heads of departments, parents and carers, social workers, and other professionals in the child's multidisciplinary team

School:


You will have the opportunity to work within a successful Secondary PRU catering for children aged 11-16 with strong links to the community and other schools in the borough.

The PRU is easily located by car, bus on train in Denton in Tameside, near the town hall.


Requirements:

To succeed in this Behaviour Support Assistant role, you must:

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
  • Provide a CV with a full history
  • Have a DBS on the Update Service or be prepared to get a new one
  • Min of two professional reference checks
  • Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable)
  • Some experience supporting teenagers or young adults with challenging behaviour or mental health needs.
