Key responsibilities
Procurement
I dentifying and evaluating potential suppliers, aligning with global suppliers, and researching and assessing suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and other relevant criteria.
Contract Requirements
Identify contract requirements and write specifications for a portfolio or area of the business for existing contracts and/or new contracts.
Contract Management
Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
Buying
Manage the end-to-end procurement process of placing orders, tracking deliveries, and ensuring that products or services meet the specified requirements.
Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favourable agreements on price, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other contractual terms to ensure the best value for the organization.
Data Collection and Analysis
Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.
Document Preparation
Sourcing
Collect and collate information on the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of innovation, and alternative suppliers for more senior colleagues to provide solid market information for decision making.
Cost Accounting
Evaluate costs and identify variances or opportunities to improve profitability for more senior colleagues.
Operational Compliance
Act as a team member supporting a change initiative by providing basic analysis, project plan updates, and other support to deliver prescribed outcomes.
Information and Business Advice
Resolve queries from internal customers or suppliers by providing information on policies and/or procedures, liasing with the GKN Legal team where necessary.
Stakeholder Engagement
Support stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, and events.
Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, working closely with them to address issues, monitor performance, and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Management
Ensuring that the products or services purchased meet the required quality standards is vital. Buyers collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and monitor quality control measures.
Risk Management
Assess potential procurement risks related to suppliers, market fluctuations, product stock, geopolitical factors, and other variables that could impact the business.
Education
Degree or equivalent experience (preferably technical or business related)
CIPS qualified preferred not essential
Experience
- Previous experience in procurement buying at the Local level (35 Years)
- Excellent ability to plan and negotiate to ensure value for money is delivered.
- Experienced in leading and delivering change/projects
- Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work in a multicultural and global environment
- Proficient at the use of ERP software; experience of LN is preferable
