The Role - Catering Manager

35 hours a week Monday - Friday Term Time Only (39 Weeks)


To manage and lead the catering team providing the high-quality standards of the School Meals Service for the prestigious High School on the Swanscombe Schools Contract.

To ensure the meals provision is cost effective, highly nutritious and is fully compliant with the School Food Standards.

All meals produced and served must be withing the budgeted cost and fall within the set free school meal cost as agreed by the LocalAuthority.

Work as part of the management team throughout the Pinnacle contract.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the team of Pinnacle staff working in the kitchen in accordance with the current legislation, adhering to Government guidelines on Healthy School Meals, Food Safety legislation, Allergens and Food Labelling legislation, Cultures, Faiths, and dietaryrequirements. Demonstrate a full understanding of all the above legislation and ensuring all staff demonstrate and are practicing the same standards.
  • Provide high standard catering service to School pupils and staff at midmorning and lunch service to 400+ on each sitting.
  • Demonstrate good staff management and leadership skills whilst working together as a member of the team.
  • Be able to work under pressure and display multitasking skills in all aspects of the role.
  • Ordering of food stocks from our nominated suppliers and show good standards of stock rotation and all areas of food storage and display adequate supplies of food are ordered to ensure the requirements of the daytoday service.
  • Working to budgetary controls whilst providing excellent standards of homecooked and produced food.
  • Completion of all statutory and mandatory bookwork in the kitchen so ensure full compliance with current legislation and company policy, ensuring all staff are practicing the same levels of compliance.
  • Ensure that all cleaning standards are adhered to and all staff are following the cleaning schedule on a daytoday basis to maintain the very high standards of the kitchen.
  • Adhere to the Health & Safety standards and compliance of legislation and company policy
  • Attend meetings if required and where necessary and deliver information when required.
  • Operate through training, the Cunningham's Bio-Metric payment system and generate reports monthly for the Pinnacle Managers.
  • Collecting of cash from the payment loading machines located in the school.
  • Reconcile and process the cash for cash collection by nominated security company as required.
  • Complete a monthly stock take and generate a stock and purchasing information for the Pinnacle Manager
  • Food development in all areas of the catering service theme days and any school requirements.
  • Recruitment and selection of all catering staff where required.
  • Any other duties required and deemed reasonable to the position in relation to the needs and requirements of the business.

Skills Required:


  • To be able to demonstrate the behaviors required as outlined in the 'Living the Values' section of the Pinnacle Booklet and common objectives for managers with full contract responsibility.
  • Have an adaptable and versatile approach to all aspects of the catering service to the schools and their requirements.
  • Qualifications in professional Catering
  • City & Guilds or NVQ and or experience of high school catering or largescale catering experience.
  • Management of staff and team leadership skills.
