North Ayrshire Carers Gateway Wellbeing & Activities Officer - £22,000 per annum - Unity

Full time working 35 hours per week including some evening and weekend work - position available on permanent basis - based in Irvine.


21 HSC are currently looking to recruit a Wellbeing & Activities Officer for a charitable organisation based in Irvine, North Ayrshire.

The charity provides a variety of support to people who are vulnerable, disadvantaged or a risk of exclusion across the West of Scotland.


The Wellbeing & Activities Officer helps unpaid carers remain physically, mentally and emotionally well to enable them to continue in their caring role.

The Officer devises a wide range of activities, some of which will be bespoke to meet the needs of individual carers while others will harness the benefits the carers can enjoy through peer support and group activities.


Key Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for developing and implementing the Gateway Activity Programme (GAP).
  • Responsible for the creation of bespoke plans with individual carers as directed by their Gateway plan to enhance their wellbeing.
  • Responsible for designing a range of personcentred activities in conjunction with carers and within their locality.
  • Responsible for developing and managing programmes that encourage carers to maintain existing interests and hobbies, and identify new ones.
  • Responsible for facilitating activities that carers friends, families and caredfor people can attend jointly, promotion a wholefamily approach.
  • Responsible for delivering trips and outings to enable carers to enjoy time away from their caring role.
  • Responsible for developing and managing a programme of therapies for carers, identifying practitioners across the localities and negotiating reduced prices for carers.
  • Responsible for managing the Gateway activities budget to purchase activities and events for carers, ensuring maximum value and impact is achieved.
  • Responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers to assist in the delivery of activities for carers.
  • Ensure Carers Gateway processes are followed at all times and electronic case management records are updated and reviewed regularly.
  • Prepare monthly status reports and undertake other monitoring and evaluation as required.

Essential/Desirable Skills and Attributes

  • Experience of Activity Planning in either a work or voluntary capacity is essential.
  • Previous work experience with unpaid carers, lived experience, or relatable voluntary experience is essential.
  • Qualifications and experience in alternative therapies and or stress management is desirable.
  • Driving licence is desirable.
