Job description:
We are looking for a self-motivated, multi-skilled, experienced maintenance/production engineer at our manufacturing site in Bedfordshire.

This is a rare opportunity for an individual to take ownership of the position and make improvements to the currentfacilities, where required.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the individual will be primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of our production machinery but will also be responsible for the general building maintenance asandwhen required.

We are a small manufacturing company based in Bedfordshire, that specialise in the production of Microbiological Dipslides to a large range of distributors, globally.

As the leading supplier in the Dipslide industry, we are highly meticulous and skilledin the products we make, with a strong emphasis on ensuring their quality.

We have a great team of over 35 employees across two sites and have been thriving for over 30 years in the industry.


Requirements of the role:

  • Broad knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering
  • Service and calibration of Media Preparator Machinery
  • Provide maintenance and repair of production machinery.
  • Troubleshooting faults and repair of faulty machinery
  • Responsible for Breakdown call out as and when required by the production department.
  • Communicating effectively with all staff regarding issues and faults that occur.
  • Writing detailed reports of works carried out.
  • Perform routine testing of spare machinery.
  • Ability to manage the engineering spare parts list and maintain where possible.
  • Order and collection (where required) of spare parts.
  • Assisting with the general building maintenance where required.
  • Must possess an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship.
  • Proven electrical or mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or commercial environment, along with a good working knowledge of pressure systems, peristaltic pumps, motors and electrical equipment is desirable.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • An understanding of quality control.
  • IT literate on Outlook and Microsoft office programmes.
  • Flexible and resilient approach to work
- standby, training and adapting to the business needs when necessary.

  • Someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Full driving license.
  • Experience of managing their own workload.

Advantageous but not essential requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of media preparator machines such as Systec or AES machines. This is not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Forklift license.
