Description
Cotswold International is a British Council accredited English Language school located in Cirencester.

The school welcomes international students all year round and arranges home stay accommodation with local hosts for the duration of the student's stay.

Our Accommodation and Student Welfare Officer role is a fulfilling and challenging position, which could offer a great platform for someone looking to develop a strong career in this industry or in student welfare generally.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Placing students in accommodation according to their needs and within required deadlines.
  • Being aware of and resolving any issues relating to accommodation.
  • Maintaining good relationships with current accommodation providers.
  • Acquiring new homestay hosts and vetting them for suitability, including initial and followup inspections. This includes finding new and creative ways to recruit hosts.
  • Keeping accurate and timely records of all aspects of student accommodation.
  • Collecting and analysing feedback from accommodation providers and students and reporting as necessary.
  • Ensuring all aspects of accommodation provision meet the requirements of British Council.
Additional administration duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing enquiries and offering prospective students information on appropriate course/study options.
  • Welcoming new students to the school and assisting with student registration and induction.
  • Updating school database and filing systems.
  • Providing support to academic staff as and when necessary.
  • Assisting with other administrative tasks as required.
  • Assist in the school generally at times of staff shortages including assisting the activity leaders to ensure activities and excursions run smoothly and within legal staff/student ratios.

Weekend / out of hours duties

The successful applicant will be required to work an hour or two some weekends in order to introduce students to their host families.

It is also required that the accommodation officer takes a share of the emergency phone rota over night (once per week) and for a full weekend per month when junior school groups are visiting.

(An additional payment of £85 will be made per full weekend emergency cover. Details apply.)

Qualifications and Skills

It is important that the successful applicant has good written and oral communication skills in English and must be competent using Microsoft Word and Excel.

The successful applicant will have a confident telephone manner, a good understanding of social media and be community minded for the purposes of recruiting new hosts.

There are times when accommodation can fall through at the last minute, normally for genuine reasons from a host family.

In the event the accommodation is for junior students, there will be an expectation on the accommodation officer to work overtime alongside a member of the school management team in order to find a safe and suitable alternative.

Please note, as this position involves working with juniors, you will be required to undergo a DBS check if you're successful.

We also require your CV to be complete with any time gaps to be explained in full.
