What you will be doing

We are looking to recruit an experienced
Management Accountantto be responsible for performing general accounting functions in addition to the communication and promotion of financial position, insight, governance and control within the business.

Key accountabilities will incorporate -:

Support the recording, reconciliation and analysis of accounting activities and period end close activities in accordance with agreed close schedules and timetables.
Perform reconciliations of various key control data including GL balances and supporting schedules including but not limited to accruals, provisions, prepayments and inventory.
Provide Insight into results during period end close to the FP&A and Business Partner teams, relating to the key cost drivers. E.g., Job volumes, Water Production levels.
Working across the wider finance team to document, align and improve processes, to drive efficiency and consistency.
Production and preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and coordination of yearend audit.
Production and preparation to support the regulatory accounting returns, including monitoring of external reporting requirements and researching accounting issues.
Support compliance with accounting standards and Thames Water control frameworks, including communicating with internal stakeholders to ensure core system data is clean and accurate.
Respond to ad hoc requests for analytics, through the agreed demand management framework to provide support to Business Partners for costs visibility, business case preparation and investigation into financial performance.
Engage with the Water Operations business on a regular basis to explain and clarify financial performance and position. Please add that to the end of the 3rd bullet point.

What you will bring to the role?

Essential:

Ability to interact with leadership, key stakeholders, employees.
Capability to effectively prioritise multiple projects to meet deadlines and produce high quality work in a fastpaced environment.
Proven experience of working well as part of a team but also take ownership to complete tasks independently.
Accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, CPA, CMA, CHAE or equivalent) or working towards.
Systems experience with SAP
Excellent knowledge of financial statements.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of accounting principles, systems, and procedures. Knowledge and understanding of IFRS, tax reporting

Desirable:

Lean/Six Sigma exposure or equivalent desired.
Systems experience with HFM
