Head of Procurement - Full Time - Birmingham, United Kingdom


Head of Procurement required to work with Sulzer in the UK and Nordics working from our state-of-the-art office in Birmingham.

You will significantly impact the value of Sulzer Services, overseeing the entire procurement process, from sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, to ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.

You will review, standardise, and implement procedures to streamline processes throughout Sulzer.

Be part of this transformation project and help Sulzer lead the way, by injecting your passion and drive to deliver a consistent and excellent Procurement service.


Your main tasks and responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the procurement teams across the sub region
  • Ensuring all procurement activities of all direct materials and defined indirect materials in all Service Centres UK & Nordics
  • Creating, tracking, reporting monthly Global KPIs as well as the creation of improvement plans to meet / exceed targets
  • First point of contact for all kind of questions within the Services EMEA Business Unit
  • Validating data for the Global Procurement Business Intelligence Tool
  • Functional owners for global processes and monitoring compliance; escalating if processes are not followed
  • Standardising systems and the accurate use of Procurement Systems within the Service Centres
  • Optimising and implementing regional Procurement processes
  • Implementing and standardising regional or global Procurement contracts
  • Aligning all Service Centres in UK regarding shared vendors & agreements & procurement processes
  • Support to global commodity leaders

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Possess a technical or commercial degree
  • Have significant experience of working in an international company
  • Management skills within procurement for an engineering company is essential
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to deliver presentations and training
  • Willingness to travel
  • Excellent communicator who can influence, negotiate, and persuade others

The Sulzer Service UK business provides maintenance and repair solutions to customers across the oil, gas, water, and energy sectors.

It operates across a network of 18 service centres with circa 700 staff and a turnover of £110 million.

The UK Services & Nordics business is spread across sites in; Aberdeen (Ellon), Falkirk, Middlesbrough, York, Bromborough, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Ipswich, Avonmouth, Bristol, Southampton, Ashford, Chessington.
