Mechanical Specialist (Plumber/Fitter) (Band 5)
£152 per day (Inside IR35)
Hybrid
12 week Contract (Option To Extend)

My Client are an NHS Trust based in Huntingdon at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and are seeking a Mechanical Specialist on an ongoing 12 week contract with an option of extension.
Job Summary
To undertake all advanced/complex mechanical maintenance covering:
- Day to day defects
- Planned preventative maintenance
- Installation work/projects
- Authorised Person duties
- Be an effective member of the inhouse maintenance team.
- Have experience and developed skills in heating, plumbing and ventilation. All with the intention of achieving optimum performance, operation and energy saving of Trust's assets.
- Installs, maintains, services and repairs full range of estates services equipment within a defined area (eg air handling units) or across all relevant areas of their trade.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance schedules on various plant and equipment using specific tools and equipment and utilising highly developed skills necessary for relevant accuracy. Input information onto Planet FM computer program and utilise tobest plan workload. Update regularly to keep abreast of development of the Trust/Hospital.
- Respond to all type of works, working from Planned Maintenance Schedules, Help Desk Requisitions, and verbal instructions.
- Provides technical advice to other estates maintenance staff and
- Contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
- Willing to be trained to undertake AP duties in other disciplines such as Medical Gas, pressure systems or ventilation etc.
- Play an active role in maintaining a safe, efficient, working environment by providing a range of effective daytoday engineering and technical services to the site.
- Able to forward plan resource needs, i.e. types of tools and equipment used for each task. Ensuring Health & Safety and COSHH regulations are always adhered to.
- Undertakes condition surveys, evaluates inspection reports.
Experience
- Completion of a structured training program for a minimum period of 3 years.
- Significant experience of engineering installation and maintenance
Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant NVQ level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering + considerable applicable experience and/or
- BTEC First Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and heating
- Competent to CP level
- IOSH Working Safely
- BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Advanced Modern Apprenticeship (NVQ level 3 with key skills)
- AP Trained
Knowledge
- Knowledge of safe isolation procedure
- Adequate knowledge of and within the proceeding three years training for, first aid treatment for electric shock.
- Awareness of pressure safety regulations and gas safe
- Competent person to HTM safety code for hospitals
