Job Title

A legal professional with expertise in multiple areas of law including Health and Safety Law, Engineering Construction Law, Commercial law, Distribution law, environmental law, and Company law is required.

Main Responsibilities:

Advise internal clients on various legal matters.
Develop legal awareness among staff through training seminars, newsletters, and personal contact.
Audit compliance with statutory obligations and provide recommendations for improvement.
Evaluate and advise on environmental liabilities.
Provide specialized expertise in negotiations with third parties.
Ensure timely and practical legal advice across the company's business operations.
Manage external legal advisors for disputes or projects.
Maintain legal compliance, including HSE, competition law, and company law.
Liaise with regulators.
Advise the board of directors on statutory obligations and potential liabilities.
Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts.
Advised on capital investment projects and new legislation affecting the business.

Additional Responsibilities:

Data Privacy Liaison Officer for TEMUK: Registered Data Protection Officer with the ICO.
Company Secretary: Registered company secretary at Companies House for all MS branch UK subsidiaries.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

5-10 years post-Qualified lawyer or solicitor with authority to practice in England & Wales.
Commercial Legal acumen, ideally gained in the Energy or Chemical industry.
Experience dealing with environments where Health & Safety implications are significant.
Excellent negotiating and influencing skills.
Flexible, proactive, objective, and able to drive change.
Confidence and good presentation skills – willingness and ability to lead.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
