Description

The post holder will take lead operational responsibility for the effective and efficient day to day control of Community Hotel Services in all associated areas including Patient and Commercial Catering Services (including; coffee shop, newsagents, vending and hospitality), Domestic, Portering and Linen Services, as appropriate within the Hospital base and any associated areas, including other Community Hospitals as/when required.


To have a comprehensive knowledge of all legal requirements and be responsible for the control of and to ensure adherence to safe working practices and hygiene requirements in line with HACCP, all relevant Food Hygiene Legislation/Guidelines, National Standards ofCleanliness, and Departmental and Health Board policies and procedures, whilst ensuring adequate and cost effective resource allocation, which includes overseeing staff rosters, holidays and sickness relief.

To actively participate in the continuous development of all HACCP principles, National Standards of Cleanliness and any associated documentation.

Ensuring the needs of all service users are met in line with the above practices and resolving/ addressing any issues in a timely and appropriate manner


To assist in the management of the site Hotel Services budget in conjunction with the Support Services Manager, ensuring that the service operates within the agreed budget, including efficiency savings.


Required to lead in, control, and undertake the organisation of duties/work area, prioritising and readjusting work schedules/rosters as necessary to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Required to support the Support Services Manager in the implementation of service development initiatives as required/directed.


To lead in and oversee operational activity, ensuring appropriate work delegation and adjustment of work patterns to achieve positive quality and cost-effective outcomes.


Required to support the Support Services Manager in the development of Supervisory, and other Hotel Services staff in line with Hotel Services' modernisation agenda, which includes PDRs, appraisals, identifying training and development needs that supports compliance with mandatory training, improvement and career progression.

Investigation and resolution of informal complaints.

Assisting the Support Services Manager in the investigation of, and response to, formal complaints, suggesting and implementing timely remedial action, as necessary.


To look at the health and safety of the individual and the team by carrying out risk management activities, identifying risks and acting upon the findings in a timely manner to reduce risk further.

To implement and monitor stock control systems to ensure stock levels are assessed, requisitioned via appropriate channels, predetermined stock levels are securely maintained including, equipment and associated areas.

To liaise with contractors and service engineers to ensure that any works are completed to an acceptable standard.

To ensure menu plan conforms to All Wales Menu Framework standard recipes and taking any appropriate remedial action.


To lead and/or assist in the preparation, service and clearing of special functions and theme days to service users, as necessary.


To manage and monitor cleaning duties ensuring safe high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained throughout as per detailed cleaning schedules and safe systems of work.

This will be achieved by agreed methods and will include the use of appropriate cleaning equipment (to include battery and electrically operated) and cleaning chemicals.


Responsible for and undertaking the completion of hard copy and electronic documentation in accordance with Food Hygiene legislation, National Standards of Cleanliness and Health Board policies and procedures, as directed, including providing and updating reports that support decision making/service improvements etc.

To ensure the appropriate collection of food samples for pathological analysis in line with departmental procedure.
