The Office for Students (OfS) is the independent regulator of higher education in England.

We aim to ensure that every student, whatever their background, has a fulfilling experience of higher education that enriches their lives and careers.


We currently have an opportunity within the Participation, Access and Equality Directorate (PACE) where our focus is on improving equality of opportunity in higher education.

This specialist role will be assigned to our Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team, but you may be asked to be involved in the delivery of activities across PACE and the OfS.


Join us and you'll use your good understanding of current research, data, and legislation, in areas relating to EDI especially the Equality Act 2010 and the public sector equality duty.

Your research and analytical skills will allow you to communicate complex details clearly and credibly. You will use these skills to prepare a range of evidencebased formal and informal documents that will be used to inform decision making and position our policies.


Negotiating and influencing stakeholders to ensure objectives are delivered, we'll also expect you to work collaboratively and creatively with your colleagues to resolve a wide range of competing demands.


You'll collaborate with your colleagues to deliver projects on the EDI priorities of the organisation, and use your project management skills to plan and manage a range of projects, activities and budgets.

Developing and evaluating new policies, processes and outputs and making appropriate recommendations for improvement will be another of your key responsibilities.

The key skills and attributes to fulfil this role include; experience managing key processes and projects independently, often with competing pressures; ability to improve and implement processes, supporting change to happen; ability to manage a wide range of stakeholders and to communicate complex strategic and operational details clearly and credibly; as well as excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Knowledge and Learning A comprehensive understanding of equality and diversity in the Higher Education environment and keeps abreast of factors (internal and external) that may influence that work Able to identify areas for further investigation and policy development Good understanding of current research, data, legislation, and broad data and information landscape for policy and practice areas relating to Equality and Diversity.
