An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic generic therapy assistant to join the Cardiorespiratory therapy team at Airedale General Hospital.


The post holder will be responsible for activities delegated to them and will work without direct supervision but will have immediate access to a clinician for advice and direction as required.


Generic therapy assistants in the Cardiorespiratory therapy team will work predominantly on the Respiratory, Cardiology and surgical wards as well as covering some community based classes.

The post holder may also be expected to undertake some community outreach/follow-up in the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven localities.


Assistants are expected to continually improve their knowledge and skills and develop collaborative working relationships with therapy colleagues to enhance patient care.

Duties are varied and include direct patient contact, clerical and housekeeping tasks.

  • Manage a caseload delegated by clinicians
  • Independently undertake basic assessments and interventions relevant to delegated caseload
  • Support therapists with complex cases as required
  • Work with colleagues to ensure the effective functioning of the team
  • Work in partnership with patients, carers, the multi disciplinary team and wider statutory, private and voluntary sector services.
  • Participate in activities to improve the therapy services at AGH.
  • Provide support to other team members and students
  • Work flexibly according to patient and service needs
In pursuing these duties the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance 'Understanding the new NHS
