    Description

    Lead the financial reporting process for Convex Insurance as our Head of Financial Reporting & CES Controller. This fixed-term contract will run for 12 months.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring controls are in place and financial results are accurate and timely.
    • Review and resolve balance sheet reconciliations across the group, identifying and addressing process deficiencies.
    • Design and implement new operational accounting policies, processes, and controls to support business initiatives and improve financial reporting.
    • Maintain oversight of tax activities related to CES, working closely with outsourced providers to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on all matters related to CES.
    • Partner with the Luxembourg CFO to prepare Audit Committee and Board Papers, coordinating with finance teams to ensure updates and resolving queries.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest accounting standards and regulations, enforcing adherence to European regulatory and statutory reporting requirements, and advising management on necessary actions.

    Requirements:

    • 10+ years of experience in (re)insurance accounting, with a proven track record of reviewing and preparing GAAP financial statements.
    • Experience in running and improving financial reporting and close processes, with a focus on deploying new technology to automate and simplify processes.
    • Expertise in dealing with complex financial statement issues, understanding key P&L drivers, and interfacing with CFOs.
    • Critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills, with advanced Excel skills and business/data analysis expertise.
    • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, with business stakeholders.
    • Skill in simplifying complex reporting concepts, overcoming operating obstacles, and driving balanced decision-making for improvements.
    • Judgement in managing competing priorities and inspiring collaboration with peers.
    • Effective organizational and communication skills.
