Job Introduction

An opportunity is available for a Systems Administrator reporting to the Senior Systems Administrator and accountable to the Ledger Controller based in Bristol.

The jobholder will be part of a team responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and development of the NGED ledger system (e5).


The role necessities the ability to work closely with IT, Finance and business operations to ensure the integrity of the General Ledger and related systems.


Providing support to stakeholders of those systems to include the monitoring and development of integrating systems, as required, along with investigating and resolving any system issues that arise.

There will be a requirement to liaise closely with external software suppliers relating to upgrades and other system changes.


The role supports a wide user base and therefore requires a specialist skill-set with a broad knowledge of the NGED business processes, financial and accounting principles and controls, as well as a good understanding of IT systems and change control procedures.

Main Responsibilities

  • Providing support and specialist advice to stakeholders on ERP System (e5)
  • Responsible for the investigation and resolution of any system issues
  • Regularly review processes within the team and implement improved standard processes and procedures as required
  • Establish strong working relationships with external software suppliers in relation to system upgrades and system changes
  • Managing the e5 system, processes and system status
  • Security maintenance of systems
  • User access to the payroll and fixed asset system
  • Ensuring that key financial and SOX controls are maintained
  • Liaison with External Audit teams and internal corporate audit
  • Liaising with the NGED finance team to support and ensure regulatory and statutory reporting is completed on time and to the required level of accuracy
  • Support and maintain the system allocations (automated journal entries)
  • Prepare the annual user review control documentation
  • Deputise for the Senior System Administrator as required
  • Excellent communication, numerical and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of reporting/data analysis tools such as WebFocus, Power BI and SQL would be highly desirable
  • Understanding of accounting and financial policies, procedures and internal control framework
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of e5 and related financial systems
  • Excellent PC skills, including the use Microsoft products, XL, Word, Outlook
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with minimum supervision
