Description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Compliance Business Partner secures the best outcomes and experiences for our customers through:

  • providing respected education, advice, and guidance for Police & Forces Mutual
- providing strong independent challenge and oversight of Police & Forces Mutual
- providing respected assurance to the MD


To provide effective Compliance oversight, guidance and advice to the design and management of Police & Forces Mutual's proposition and products within the UK Business ensuring appropriate challenge in respect of regulatory risk and compliance with designated regulation and/or legislation.


To support the effective implementation of new regulatory impacts on business projects and initiatives and appropriate oversight regarding remedial actions and business process developments.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Advice
To support operational activities and change initiatives, in particular to:

  • interpret regulatory developments accurately and in a timely way, ensuring appropriate actions are taken, engaging with the wider business as appropriate.
- provide comprehensive, pragmatic advice on business as usual activities and change initiatives across the entire customer journey.
- review and update regulatory authorisations, permissions, and licences.
- oversee the implementation of actions to ensure that breaches are dealt with effectively and conduct regulator notifiability assessments.
- input into the review of Group Policies and the Governance Map.
- provide guidance on the content of regulatory training material and initiatives.
- coordinate information requests from regulators.

Monitoring

  • Assist in the maintenance of the compliance risk universe and associated scoring methodology.
  • Cooperate with the Group Head of Compliance Monitoring to ensure effective engagement of the business in the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan.
  • Engage with business managers to discuss findings from compliance monitoring reviews and agree actions which can vary in complexity.
  • Ensure the Group Head of Compliance Monitoring is kept suitably appraised of progress in relation to review delivery so that any threats to plan delivery can be managed and where necessary, escalated.
Key Contribution Areas


Assist the MD in the performance and delivery of the business responsibilities, attending business and Steering Group meetings as directed.

Measure - Evidence of effective support and assistance provided to the Group Head of Compliance and provision of a direct input into key business and regulatory related activity.


Provide effective oversight and proactive support to the design and management of PFM's proposition and products so that the risk of non-compliance is mitigated.

Measure - Reduction of regulatory risk in areas of greater regulatory focus and technical requirements.


Build effective relationships with staff and line management at all levels within PFM and Group compliance in order to identify business plans and matters which could impact on the quality of compliance in individual business areas.

Measure - Attend regular relationship meetings with key business.


Investigate breaches reported by business areas and ensure that the business is properly dealing with all regulatory consequences and that the Group Compliance team has all required information to consider whether a regulatory notification is required.

Measure - Well managed regulatory breaches.


Ensure that all relevant regulatory procedural and policy documents in place for the business areas are periodically reviewed and kept up to date and arrange for the central compliance website to be updated.

Measure - Current, accurate and appropriately detailed regulatory documents held on a website which is well recognised by the business as a key source of regulatory information.

Provide input into reports made by the Head of team to senior business management and Group Compliance. Measure - Reporting of all key regulatory risks and issues and sound input to the Compliance monitoring team for their monitoring plans

Maintain adequate records in accordance with the FCA rules & guidance. Measure - Easily retrievable and accurate records.

Risk

  • Support leaders in implementing and embedding Risk Management and adherence to the Group Risk Management Plan
  • Ensure key business risks are fully understood, controlled, and mitigated on the team to ensure local plans are delivered and we meet our regulatory requirements

  • Ensure Risk Events are reported, investigated, and reported in accordance with the Group Risk Management Plan
