Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Research Fellow in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine within the Department of Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at Birmingham Childrens Hospital to start in September 2023.


This post offers an exciting opportunity for a paediatric respiratory trainee to take part in clinical research with an aim to achieve a higher degree, while enhancing their clinical experience in all aspects of tertiary respiratory medicine and cystic fibrosis at middle grade level.

This post would be suitable for a senior paediatric trainee or post

  • CCT doctor with paediatric respiratory grid training or pursuing special interest in paediatric respiratory medicine. Out of Programme Research (OOPR) approval would be easily possible and sought as per the trainees requirement.
This is a 2-year funded post and will have a set clinical and protected research component.

The clinical work would involve working alongside the medical team which provides specialist paediatric respiratory inpatient and outpatient services in a tertiary service with enhanced experience and training opportunities as per the post holders experience and training requirements.

The research project will be in the field of preschool wheeze, asthma, or bronchiectasis.

There is no commitment to acute/general paediatrics, hospital at night or out of hours work within the job plan.
