Recruiting for a Night Support Worker to join our Service in Westminster


GBP 23,019.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week, plus 25 days Annual Leave, Pension schemes, Staff discounts, healthcare and more.


Shift Patterns:

This role requires working on a rota, working hours are 21:30 to 08:00, four shifts per week including weekends.


Job Overview:


Many residents have experienced trauma and struggle with mental health problems and can find forming relationships and trusting those in authority difficult as a result.

Hopkinson House staff focus on building meaningful relationships with residents, to support them to engage with other services, and move on to more independent accommodation in the future.


As part of the Night Support Worker team your responsibilities are to ensure the Health and Safety of customers and the building throughout the night.

Reporting any repairs and dealing with and responding to Anti-Social Behaviour, any incidents or emergencies that may arise.

Hopkinson House implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model.

This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, those who have experienced complex trauma, or are diagnosed with a personality disorder, by focusing on building relationships.


Working at Hopkinson House will provide an opportunity to learn about mental health, substance misuse, and how to help those who have experienced multiple disadvantages and are often excluded from society.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers, local residents and external partners, creating a positive atmosphere
  • Conducting regular patrols of the building
  • Answering calls
  • Respond to and deal with ASB complaints from local residents with the Night Security team
  • Adhering to lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself and colleagues
  • Ensuring Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are adhered to at all times e.g., fire safety plans, risk assessments, fire alarm checks, Fire Evacuations, Fire Exit remain clear etc.
  • Ensure that the buildings communal areas remain tidy
  • Being responsible for the handover of key information between shifts verbally and written
  • Undertaking any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as assigned by the Team Leader/Manager

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:


Essential:


  • Experience of night work with vulnerable customers
  • Experience of H & S at work
  • Excellent IT and Literacy Skills

Desirable:


  • First Aid certificate
  • H & S certificate
