Description
St Ed's is a provider of alternative vocational education for young people aged up to 25 with an EHCP).
-
Key Purpose

  • To deliver high quality teaching and learning for Level 1 Automotive Maintenance and Level 2 Vehicle Inspection.
  • To ensure the health, safety, safeguarding and wellbeing of learners, staff and visitors to the Centre in accordance with St Ed's operating policies.
  • To support all students in achieving their potential by taking a proactive, enthusiastic and flexible approach in accordance with St Ed's ethos. To provide assistance to the Mechanics Tutor in delivery of qualifications.

Core responsibilities

  • To develop resources, teaching materials, a scheme of work and lesson plans for all lessons as per your timetable
  • The delivery of teaching and learning to support the individual progression route for each student
  • The evaluation of teaching and learning and assessment of students
  • To support the students to find creative ways to achieve learning across the levels for individuals (especially those with additional needs)
  • To positively engage with all students including those that display challenging behaviours, enabling students to be treated as individuals in a personcentred manner
  • Maintaining group registers, tracking progress, and providing feedback to both students, centre staff and student schools
  • To plan for new courses and activities at the Centre and externally
  • To work alongside the Internal Quality Assurance Officer to deliver the Internal Quality Assurance process in line with external requirements
  • To work as part of St Ed's team to manage student's behaviour on site, in accordance with St Ed's ethos, code of conduct, behaviours and rewards policy and the overriding corporate strategy
  • Maintaining tools, equipment and resources for the purposes of teaching and learning
  • Maintain standards required under the Health & Safety at Work Act and all relevant health and safety regulations

Other responsibilities

  • To ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors to the centre in accordance with St Ed's operating policies
  • To ensure that all staff and students are aware of and comply with St Ed's safeguarding requirements and comply with St Ed's safeguarding policies and practices laid down
  • To contribute to and undertake risk assessments of both activities and people (students, staff and visitors)
  • To contribute to the development of community projects to support student learning
  • To provide general advice and guidance, attend multiagency meetings, providing feedback when needed
  • To undertake Continual Professional Development (CPD) some of which you may be required to undertake in your own time, ensuring that all vocational and teaching and learning knowledge is current and up to date
  • Ensure that professional memberships are current and vocational specialist professional body memberships are maintained.

The post-holder may, at times, be required to work outside of normal office hours or at weekends. Such variations would not in themselves justify the re-evaluation of the post.
