Due to the ongoing success of this initiative, we are currently looking for passionate and dynamic Waste and Resource Management (WaRM) specialists to join our growing team in delivering a sustainable low-carbon future.


Position Overview:

Joining during an exciting period of expansion of our global WaRM group, you will be part of a new team in the UK, delivering projects and working with experts from across the globe.

You will have the ability to shape the direction of the new team targeting work with private and public sector clients in the UK and internationally.

You will be working on a wide variety of schemes throughout the project life cycle, providing services from feasibility and strategy development through to procurement, design and due diligence.

Projects will range from small scale incubator developments to national circular economy and waste plans.


In the role of WaRM Organics Specialist you will lead projects involving food, farm and garden wastes, working with experts across the group on cutting edge technologies for the use of renewable gasses, and with waste and resource management professionals covering waste collection, modelling, communications, treatment technologies, energy from waste and recycling systems.

GHD has Circular Economy and WaRM specialists across the Americas and Asia Pacific.

We are now growing a team in Europe and the Middle East, so this is an opportunity to shape a new team and develop opportunities from start to finish.

**Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement waste management strategies that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, focusing on sustainable waste management solutions.

  • Due diligence of organic waste treatment processes for investors, and public and private sector clients.
  • Support on procurement, due diligence, master planning, modelling, strategy and international development projects, inputting into decisions of projects to bid for and clients to target.
  • Provide technical expertise in waste processing, recycling technologies, anaerobic digestion, thermal conversion, and other energy recovery methods.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to design integrated waste management systems that optimise resource utilisation and minimise environmental impact.
  • Have a detailed understanding of different organic feedstocks and their suitability for different treatment processes.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in waste management, energy conversion, and circular economy practices. Be a market leader in changes in the organics sector.
  • Link WaRM activities to Circular Economy, Sustainability and Social Value improvements on all projects. Foster strong client relationships by delivering highquality solutions, ensuring client satisfaction, and maintaining project timelines and budgets.

Essential:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, resource management, biology or a related environmental field. Other methods of obtaining knowledge and experience are also welcomed.
  • Proven experience in waste and resource management, with a focus on organic waste treatment.
  • Knowledge of UK waste management regulations, environmental legislation, and wasterelated developments.
  • Proficiency in utilising software tools for data analysis, modelling, and project management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and project locations as required.

Desirable:


  • Membership in relevant professional organisations (e.g., Chartered Institution of Wastes Management) is advantageous.
  • Experience in organic waste processing projects including as project engineer, development engineer and/or independent certifier.
  • In depth knowledge of organic waste processing systems and technologies, project development and delivery, including commissioning, operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Demonstrated technical competence and understanding of the physical, biochemical and mechanical processes, emissions profile, limitations and constraints of aerobic composting and anaerobic digestion systems and technologies suitable for processing commercial quantities of solid organic waste.
