WHAT COMPANY YOU WILL BE WORKING FOR
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit an HSE Coordinator to work within a manufacturing plant based in Washington.

The HSE Coordinator will be responsible for Health, Safety and Environmental matters necessary for product quality, legislative compliance,safe methods of working, statutory requirements and the protection of employees, plant, property and equipment.

The role reports primarily to the Plant Manager and has secondary reporting lines to the UK HSE Manager.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE?

Developing and Implementing safe systems of work (in conjunction with the site teams) for new / existing processes to ensure the safe operation of equipment, including procedures to address emergency preparedness and response.

Complete workplace audits and implements corrective actions. Compile reports for the Management team as required.
Communication, training and instruction on general HSE-management matters and specific job related HSE issues. Ensure integration of HSE awareness within the broader sustainability approach of the Country/Group.
Organising HSE meetings at Site level and participating in HSE meetings at Country level.
Ensuring supervision and enforcement of HSE rules and regulations in line with UK Corporate guidance and legislation.

Reporting and investigating accidents, incidents, diseases, dangerous occurrences, near misses, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions in accordance with company procedures using the Blumatica tool and HSEDM tool (Management, analysis and registration of events)while providing recommendations for improvement.

Risk assessment - review and update of existing assessments; conduct new risk assessments for processes and systems as required.
Produce and deliver presentations covering various HSE issues.
Deliver workplace inductions for visitors, contractors and new starters

The role is also responsible for the implementation and maintenance of two Management systems: ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, so execution of Integrated Management System audits together with facilitation of external audits is expected.

This includes follow-ups tonon-conformities and observations, documentation control for both systems and execution of management reviews.
Organise statutory HSE training programmes to ensure the company meets all statutory requirements.
Maintain Area skills matrices for all departments.
Assist in the development and delivery of Behavioural Safety initiatives

Managing, monitoring, collecting and reporting data (in the HSEDM tool) related to waste management (transfer notes, hazardous waste), energy, gas and water consumption, environmental permits.

Update current training files and produce new documents as required.
Monitor the progression of the training and provide the Management team with continuous updates of the current status.

WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION?
Solid experience conducting risk assessments preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Previous audit experience is advantageous.
NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum.
Be prepared to undertake training as required to enable fulfilment of the job role
Sound understanding of COSHH.
Computer literacy is essential, with good knowledge of Microsoft office packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
A self-starter, proactive, prepared to take the initiative and work without direct supervision.
Have a practical approach.

WHAT ARE THE FINER DETAILS OF YOUR ROLE?
This is a permanent role from day one centring on day shift hours. The role works Monday to Friday.

WHAT SALARY PACKAGE YOU WILL BE RECEIVING
The position pays circa £35K per annum
