What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?

You will be assigned one or more projects based on needs at the time of joining our fast-moving department, and will develop both strong team working and technical skills.

It is expected that you will provide creative input and direction into your work, and present your progress and achievements to both technical and non-technical audiences throughout your placement.

In this data science role, you will network with colleagues locally and globally, as our enterprise systems have users in both UK and USA.

We also support colleagues who wish to develop their presentation skills to a high level through giving scientific lectures to a department with groups in both the UK and US.

When can I start?

Placements will start on 2nd September 2024 and will run for 12 months.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Type of person we are looking for, in relation to 'Skills', 'Knowledge' and 'Motivation':

Completing placement as part of University Degree either through Year In Industry/Industrial Placement or Gap Year
On target for a Degree Classification
Studying for a degree with focus on data science or a related discipline (e.g. computer science, engineering, physics etc)
Strong computational/programmatic skills with demonstrable interest in developing your skills in data mining and modelling (e.g. by final year course selection choices)
Good communication skills and able to understand the language of both computing and science professionals
Interested to explore the pharmaceutical industry as a career choice
Selfassured to work freely, with good team working abilities
Quick to learn, and flexible approach to assigned activities

Who can apply?

Applicants must be completing placement as part of a degree course at a UK University, either through Year in Industry/Industrial Placement or Gap Year.
