Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a
permanent, site-based, Electrical Team Leader to join our
Severn Bridge team in
M48 Severn Bridge and M4 Second Severn Crossing.


The salary for this role is between £30000 and £35000, depending on your skillset, experience and qualifications.

Amey is working in partnership with National Highways on the Specialist Bridges Inspection & Maintenance contract to inspect and maintain three bridges in Southwest England over a 15-year period.


Covering the maintenance of three major structures; the 1.4km M5 Avonmouth Bridge, the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge which comprises three structures, the 2.1km Avon Viaduct, 948m Cable Stay and 2.077km Gwent Viaduct as well as the 1.6km M48 Severn Bridge, a suspension bridge that has the second highest tidal range in the world at 14.5m.

We are responsible for the cyclic maintenance, daily structure inspection checks and safety patrols as well as responding to any incidents that impact the structural integrity of the bridges.


Our roads and bridges are among the safest in the world and our partnership supports maintenance to high standards across all three bridges and provides the best possible quality of service to road users.


The Electrical Team Leader plays an important part in working in the Engineering teams of the Severn Bridges Group carrying out maintenance and repair works on the iconic M48 Severn Bridge and M4 Second Severn Crossing.


The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week. Shift pattern to be discussed at interview.

You will be responsible for:


  • Assisting with the maintenance of power/lighting installations and associated fittings in accordance with BS 7671 : 201
  • Carrying out programmed maintenance of gantries, access cradles and equipment in accordance with the annual programme
  • Reactive maintenance or repairs of the major plant and equipment of the M48 Bridge and M4 Second Severn Crossing, inclusive of security systems
  • Ordering electrical spares and equipment in line with stock requirements
  • Producing reports and support information in respect of electrical maintenance works, investigations and tests
  • Writing electrical maintenance procedures, task sheets and risk assessments as required and as directed
  • Organising and supervising Operatives and Contractors during electrical maintenance of the Asset systems and installations including, standby generators, high mast lighting, heating and ventilation

We want to hear from you if you have experience working in maintenance/construction environment with the ability to work outdoors and at height.


Ideally you will be qualified in ONC Electrical Engineering and hold a current ECS Card.


In
addition to this, it would be desirable if you have a great knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations - BS 7671:2015 to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
