Description

Ibk is a community based, not-for-profit social enterprise with over 20 years' experience of providing Direct Payment Support to families, children and adults of all ages with a range of needs. We provide a bespoke matching service, finding the right PA for the right person.

IBK are currently working with a parent who is looking for a personal assistant to work with her 4 year old daughter who has an autism diagnosis.

This young person loves bouncing and jumping, watching Hey Duggee and watching herself in the mirror.

She predominantly communicates non verbally but can communicate her wants and needs through methods such as picture boards and electronic devices.

The main focus of the support is to ensure this young person is safe and happy as well as providing respite to her Mum and enabling her Mum to also spend time with her older daughter.

The role may involve doing activities in the home, escorting the young person to her after school clubs or taking her to a local park.

There will be some preparing of meals and personal care also involved in the role.

The ideal PA will be confident and observant as the young person can be unpredictable in her behaviour and has no real sense of danger.

They will need to be physically capable of keeping up with this young person, particularly when they are out in the community.

Experience of autism and alternative communication would be an advantage but Mum is a speech and language therapist who would happily support a PA to build their knowledge in this area.

Both the young person, her sister and her Mum are all autistic. For this reason, a PA who can use their initiative and adapt quickly is essential.
