- The Corporate Governance team is responsible for the smooth running of the department's toplevel boards and committees including the Departmental Board chaired by the Secretary of State, the Executive Committee chaired by the Permanent Secretary, and a range of other committees chaired by nonexecutives and directors general. In addition to this work, our team has recently taken on responsibility for overseeing unregulated ministerial appointments, the management of outside interests and preappointment due diligence and background checks.
- The team is embedded in a Deputy Director division reporting directly to the Permanent Secretary, alongside the Permanent Secretary's Private Office, the National Technology Advisors Office and the department's Expert Exchange Programme. The team is led by the Head of Corporate Governance and supported by Senior Corporate Governance Advisors who each lead one of our three subteams. This role will report to the Senior Corporate Governance Advisor with responsibility for unregulated ministerial appointments, due diligence and background checks, and the management of outside interests.
Person specification:You don't need any a background in corporate governance or working in government to be successful in this role but experience working closely with senior leaders or on sensitive personnel management issues would be beneficial. If we offer you a position, we'll work with you to understand your aspirations and career interests and will support you to find and attend training courses that will help you to be successful in your role.
- Procurement and project management: We are going to procure an enterprise-grade disclosure management system to make it easy for our people to declare their interests and efficient for us to triage, review and mitigate any actual or perceived conflicts these present. Working closely with our Digital, Security, Accessibility, Information Management, Commercial and Finance teams you will lead this procurement, learning how to set out requirements, assess suppliers and agree contracts.
