Description

The theatre Clerical ordering clerk is responsible for participating as part of the theatre team, providing comprehensive clerical support and stock control including prosthesis and the consignment of stock.


The post holder will act as a first point of call for all stores visitors and company representatives to the department and deal with all enquiries in a professional and efficient manner.

Ensure the daily re-ordering of surgical implants and consignment instrumentation and maintain appropriate stock levels.


Take responsibility for regular stock takes of all prosthesis and ensure copies of stock levels are sent to the appropriate departments.

Check the dates on all prosthesis and arrange for out of date stock to be returned for exchange.

Take part in yearly audit of stock with auditors and finance department.

Receive delivery notes of prosthesis and various other items, checking and filing delivery notes within the department.

Ensure stock is entered on the computer system and put away in appropriate places in a timely manner.

Receipt all orders via the computer system weekly and daily within the last month of the financial year.

On-Call


Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

Maintain an efficient, effective and robust filing and ordering systems.

Provide effective written, verbal and electronic communication by receiving and passing on clear messages and seeking assistance when needed.


Act as first point of contact for person in charge, dealing appropriately with all communications and tasks allocated, including sensitive issues.

Liaise with visitors to the theatres, obtaining the appropriate support from the multidisciplinary team when needed.

Maintain and photocopy records, prepare documents as required ensuring that the information is accurate and up to date.

Organise transport arrangements for instrumentation, prosthesis and other items to be delivered to other areas as required.

Maintain manual and computerised records relating to organisational activity.

Participate in departmental research and audit where required.
