We are seeking a Researcher to join the Environmental Change Institute's Energy programme and the Sustainability team of Oxford University Estates Services, which carry out research and evidence collection into energy demand, energy use and the role of different actors managing operational energy and indoor environmental qualities in the University's buildings.


You will be responsible for carrying out research in the retrofitted Dyson Perrins Monitoring Project for a period of 14 months and to assist the implementation of monitoring process of the newly retrofitted West Wing office space in the Dyson Perrins lab building.

This project aims to provide an understanding of the retrofitted space (e.g.

designed vs as build) in terms of energy use and indoor environmental qualities and of the new flexible ways of working practices (e.g.

open plan, 'hot-desking').

This project will collect evidence on "What is the user's perception about the retrofitted building environment and the new ways of working?" linked to wellbeing, productivity and energy use.

The successful applicant will manage own research and administrative activities on a day to day basis, co-ordinating aspects of work to meet deadlines


This involves:

management of the three work packages within the project, including effective management of time spent, and close liaison with line manager and project stakeholders to ensure an integrated approach to project planning and scheduling of work to meet deadlines and objectives.

You will undertake monitoring and/or post-occupancy evaluation of buildings and manage data from monitoring sensors and other data sources. You will also undertake research using qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources reviewing and summarising findings for project partners (e.g. facility manager, Estates Sustainability team etc.) and advice on energy use from a socio-technical perspective.

This is a fixed term part-time (15 hours per week) post for 14 months.
