About the role:

National Gas Transmission has an exciting and important role in delivering Net Zero energy and in leading a fair energy transition for the UK. We will do this by developing the green gas system of tomorrow, while delivering the natural gas needs of today.

As a Policy Lead focusing on Net Zero, you will be at the forefront of the clean energy transition, ensuring energy for all as we move to Net Zero.

With an inclusive and collaborative approach, you will support the development of the UK's Net Zero policy, ensuring alignment with National Gas' strategy.

A key part of your role will involve horizon scanning to identify trends and policy insights.

Working collaboratively with the wider business, you will develop policy positions, with considerations for energy system insights, strategic drivers, and external stakeholder views and needs.

You will support our Corporate Affairs team in the development of our internal and external communication of our policy positions, and will be both the internal and external representative for this.

You will evaluate new policies as published, analysing their impact on National Gas and our Net Zero ambitions and develop responses that you will present externally.

You will lead and develop responses to relevant external consultations in conjunction with the wider business and where relevant, external stakeholders.

Occasionally you may also get involved in the creation of business cases to drive Hydrogen/Net Zero development and innovation projects, contribute to regulatory submissions, and other ad-hoc requests.

What you can expect from us:

We offer a salary of between £44,000 and £54,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

You will also be eligible for an annual bonus based on your own and the company's performance.
You'll get 26 days' holiday per year, alongside the 8 statutory bank holidays, with the option to buy more.
