Description
Job Purpose:
To inspect, test and service customer and company hire fleet equipment. Inspection, testing and service of premium brand loose lifting gear, hydraulic and manual/electric hoisting equipment.
Accountabilities:
Service Work
- Inspect and test items of customer equipment brought in for 6 month or 12 monthly inspection. These include predominately loose lifting equipment including chain slings, shackles, polyester slings and other general loose tackle.
- Other items of equipment include manual chain blocks, lever hoists, hydraulic cylinders and electric hoists
- Inspect and test bespoke equipment made to customers drawings utilising vertical and horizontal test facilities
- Produce written inspection / repair information for quotation and certification.
- Conduct any repairs to equipment brought in which fails inspection
- Inspect and test items upon return from hire in line with company hire procedures
- Ensure that a 'customer first' approach is adopted to achieve consistent firstrate customer service.
- Assist Sales & Service team in delivering key objectives of Business Plan.
- Ensure effective service work management.
- Ensure service and calibration processes are adhered to.
- Deputise for team members when applicable.
- Ensure clean and safe workshop area.
- Advise any repairs / renewals for work plant to Foreman/Management.
Rigging
- Manufacture of chain slings to customer requirements
Warehouse Function
Provide ad-hoc cover/support for the following functions
- Assist with the collation of sales orders including packing of goods for shipment
- Customer deliveries
- Booking in of goods from suppliers
Branch Performance
- Assist management to achieve Planned Sales and Profit against the agreed business plan.
- Follow company processes in line with our ISO documented system and H&S guidelines.
- Ensure company assets and machinery are regularly maintained and calibrations in date.
Essential Requirements for Job at Competent Level of Performance:
- A sound industry track record in lifting gear service and inspection.
- Excellent timemanagement skills whilst demonstrating a flexible approach and a 'can do' attitude
- Flexibility that includes the potential to assist other departments and locations within Arbil
- Ability to form constructive relationships with colleagues across the group and to interact with Corporate functions such as Finance, Marketing and QA / H&S.
- UK driving licence and flexible to undertake travel to suppliers, customers and other parties
- Job is a physical and strenuous job involving working with heavy equipment
Experience Required:
- Lifting Gear Industry: Hire or Sales (preferably both) and Service
- LEEA Qualified (not essential)
- Working in Lifting Gear workshop environment.
- Working on site.
- Forklift License advantageous
- Overhead Crane experience
Personality:
- Working as part of a small team in a customer service environment a 'can do' approach is essential
- Self motivated and able to work under own initiative
- Experience and maturity that will ensure commercial success
Communications:

Internal: All levels of staff including other division and those in corporate roles

External: Suppliers (existing and potential), customers (new and existing), professional advisors etc
