SUPPORT WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION

Employees of Clear Vision Recruitment are to follow the rules, policies and procedures laid out in the provided staff handbook.

A copy of this will be given to you before you start working. A copy is also kept in the office and available for all staff to access.

A healthcare worker's role is to perform duties and tasks to facilitate our clients to live at home in a safe, secure and comfortable way while still being able to maintain their dignity and independence.

DUTIES
A care worker's duties and tasks vary and are very adaptable.

A healthcare worker mainly carries out tasks that might be carried out by a close friend or relative but as a trained professional with background knowledge.

To do this correctly, the care worker must be aware of the client's needs and requirements.

They also need to be able to communicate successfully with the client, co-workers and other stakeholders such as family, friends and other outside professionals, for this reason, a good level of spoken and written English is necessary.

Each client will have specific tasks to be carried out. These may include the following;

  • Cooking and/or preparing meals
  • Assistance with feeding
  • Housekeeping (inc. bedmaking, laundry)
  • Personal hygiene care (dressing, washing, grooming)
  • Toileting (assisting with use of commode, emptying commode)
  • Continence management
  • Using manual handling equipment (as specified, after training is given)
  • Assisting with prescribed medication
  • Shopping and supplies management
  • Keeping accurate records of care visits and daily reports
  • Accessing the community
All of these tasks will be undertaken only once the appropriate training and briefing have been completed.

It is of vital importance that the care worker carries out tasks in a professional, safe and secure way, adhering to the specific instructions as well as policies and procedures of the company.

In some cases, healthcare workers are often the only people the client may see on a daily basis, therefore it is important that said healthcare worker reports any relevant information back to their supervisor.

Any changes that need to be passed on to the client's family, friends or relatives will be handled by the Clear Vision Recruitment admin team, based on the advice and reports from the healthcare worker.

Anyone who does not genuinely care about the welfare of other people would not be suitable for this job.

Equipment provided by the client such as wheelchairs, hoists etc.

are not the responsibility of Recruit Care Recruitment or its employee's supply or upkeep, however, it is expected that any concerns or issues with any provided equipment are reported by the care worker to the supervisor.

All members of the Clear Vision Recruitment team go through a thorough training programme which includes both initial and ongoing training and is a requirement for all staff.
