The Team
The School of Academic and Vocational Support Team are very proud to support Northampton College's culture of high

The Role
The purpose of this role is to work within the WBMH team to identify and assess the educational support needs of students with
a range of conditions including mental ill health, ASD, ADHD and Acquired brain injury, and to then work with the students,
teachers and Support Assistants to implement appropriate personalised strategies which enable students to access the curriculum
and gain qualifications. The post holder will have proven expertise in supporting young people with Well Being & Mental Health
and Behavioural difficulties on all levels of courses from Entry to L3.

The post holder will work with individual and small groups of students to promote well-being strategies via workshop settings and
individual tutorials. Students will work towards agreed SMART targets which the post holder will regularly review and update.


The post holder will participate in the annual review process for students who hold Education & Health Care Plans where needed.

Appropriate training will be provided.

The post holder will liaise with Additional Support Assistants as required to inform them of effective in-class strategies.

The post holder may be required to communicate with parents/carers and external agencies when appropriate.

  • A relevant Mental Health related qualification at Level 3 or above or an equivalent qualification in a vocational area.
  • Knowledge of the EHCP process.
  • Proven ability to support students at a range of levels.
  • Understanding of the need for, and commitment to an excellent pastoral care system to support students in their academic
activities
