Job Details


A homemaker's task is to build relationships with children, their parents and wider family to build on self-confidence, self-esteem, and practical home skills.

This can include modelling activities such as cooking, cleaning, tidying, setting routines (getting children to school, attending appointments, supporting families to take public transport etc), observing and encouraging parents to build on parenting skills and to increase self-awareness and a sense of family engagement.

A homemaker's skills and values should include being non-judgemental, supportive, encouraging, committed (even when families are struggling to engage) recognise and be able to praise progress and interact sensitively when families are struggling to show progress.

A homemaker needs to work effectively with Social Work Assistants and Social Workers as well as partner agencies such as Health and Education.

Written skills are essential as is a driving licence.
