Team Leader

The Role:


  • The Willows is a warm, welcoming and safe family environment, where dedicated, experienced and qualified staff provide the best care for vulnerable, traumatised and disadvantaged children and young people aged of all abilities, who have been assessed as needing the positive experiences and emotional support that a residential setting can provide.
  • The management and staff at The Willows are committed to ensuring that the children and young people we care for aspire to, and reach, their full potential and achieve good outcomes, personally, educationally and socially in accordance with the children's homes regulations and the nine quality care standards.
  • In consultation with the Registered Manager, the Team Leader will assist in managing the overall daily operations at The Willows working with children and young people in a residential setting. The Team Leader will provide direct line management to a small number of Childcare Workers. The Team Leader will develop and implement care and risk plans based on individualised children's need in partnership with referring authorities, therapeutic services, senior management and education settings, they will model best practice in terms of providing high quality care. The Team Leader will be well versed in children's homes legislation, regulations and inspection framework, in order to support the safe and effectively delivery of care.
  • Main duties and areas of responsibility:
  • To actively seek the views and opinions of children and provide a platform from which they can
be heard, and their views represented within the whole service

  • To demonstrate good child practices in own direct work with children to provide a model for other
staff members

  • To carry out specific tasks as delegated by the overseeing Deputy Manager.
To assist the Registered Manager, and Deputy Manager to implement Ofsted
requirements/recommendations with a view to achieving Outstanding

  • To assist the Deputy Manager to manage small budgets for within the home
To oversee children's finances, ensuring accurate records are kept, and oversight of children's
equals cards

  • To support with recruitment needs of the service when required
To ensure that full and complete care plan/risk plan records for young people are reviewed and
that sound decisions are made and carried out.

  • To compile written reports as and when necessary
To ensure all administrative work is completed on each shift
To ensure that the policies and procedures of Nugent and Clumber are implemented and adhered
to

  • To ensure that staff training is in date and supervision is carried out with members of the small
staff team

  • To ensure that effective communication systems are utilised in order to keep young people and
staff informed of relevant information

  • To monitor aspects of site security on a daily basis
To ensure health & safety systems, are followed, including all appropriate risk assessments are
undertaken in relation to safe working practices

  • To maintain accurate records are kept on the data information system
To be aware of and work on service improvement plans, alongside Deputy Managers.
To ensure all incidents, accidents and missing from home episodes are clear and accurately
recorded in a timely manner

  • To offer supervision, and reflective practice discussions to the small staff team
To help support in completing regular audits of the service, and other daily weekly tasks to ensure
the service is meeting regulatory requirements

  • To support in monthly Regulation 44 visits, and with Ofsted Inspections.
To support in facilitating staff meetings and return to work interviews probationary periods for
staff

  • Ensuring that adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times
Ensure activity plans for the home are planned and that staff carry out suitable activities
To ensure young people attend education on a daily basis, ensure key links with education
providers

  • To ensure all health needs of a child are met, and that children attend all necessary appointments

The Successful Applicant:


QUALIFICATIONS

Essential
***- Level 3 Diploma for residential childcare (or equivalent)
A willingness and desire to pursue further training and development through supervision

Desirable

  • Level 4/level 5 QCF qualifi
