We have an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Technologist to join our team based in Irlam, Manchester. This is a permanent, full time position, working 40 hour per week, Monday - Friday.

What does this corker of a job entail?

  • To perform audits at Kingsland
  • To effectively communicate at all levels
  • To ensure all Artwork Checks are completed
  • To report any nonconforming packaging to suppliers and follow up corrective actions and return of stock
  • To liaise with the Engineering/Production Teams
  • To decide whether downtime is due to packaging or equipment failures
  • Project work / investigative work
  • To control nonconforming packaging products in accordance with the documented procedure
  • To coordinate trials of nonconforming packaging
  • To assess incoming packaging materials against specifications
  • To provide Packaging support and assistance to Operations
  • To carry out project work as directed by Packaging Manager
  • To ensure that all packaging specifications are up to date
  • To assist in the checking and approval of all packaging pilot samples
  • To organize and oversee production trials to ensure the suitability of new packaging materials
  • To liaise with Finance to charge and recover costs from suppliers for nonconforming packaging
  • To be involved in obsolescent packaging materials
Key Ingredients

  • New incumbents would be expected to possess at least 5 O'levels/GCSEs, including passes in Maths and English.
  • Proven track record of successfully working with packaging materials from a technical viewpoint
  • Good administration skills are essential.
  • Must have the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a high level of discipline.
  • IT skills to support and enhance performance.
  • Proven track record of team working and continuous improvement objectives.
  • Ability to make reasoned decisions and strength of character to stand by them
  • Ability to autonomous and selfmotivated
