Salary Scale:
OHS Grade 6 - £21,400


Hours: 37.5 per weeks including regular weekends

Job Summary


The Retail Support Co-ordinator will assist the Retail Area Manager to ensure all the Overgate Hospice Charity shops and our Donation Centre run effectively to maximise sales.

The post holder will work with and support all the retail team where required including the line management of the Hospice Retail Support team.


Minimum Qualifications / Experience Required
Study to GCSE Level or equivalent experience

At least 3 years retail experience

Duties & Responsibilities
To assist the Area Managers to ensure effective running of the Overgate Hospice shops ensuring efficient and effective supervision of staff, providing support where needed ensuring a high
- quality retail service.


Line management of the retail support team including formal 1:1 meetings on a monthly basis, review of performance, setting and monitoring of individual targets and undertaking annual appraisals.

Organise the Retail support rota to ensure adequate cover and support to across all shop teams during annual leave.

Support Shop Managers to manage paid staff members and volunteers effectively.


To assist the Area Manager in supporting new retail shop staff in their first six months through regular supervision and meetings including mentoring, coaching, and working with the Retail.

Training Co-ordinator on the implementation of relevant work programme to achieve required level.

Assist the Area Manager to support underperforming shops with hands on support, ideas, and expertise.


Support the retail team on the organisation of all community retail events that promote the shops including fashion shows, Pop Up Shops, and street markets.

Promote the use of loyalty cards and communication with loyalty card holders.


Identify Retail PR opportunities and stories and submit regular press release working with the Head of Communications and Marketing team.

Working with the Area Manager to develop a marketing and window display plan and ensure this is implemented.

Act as secondary emergency key holder and contact for all shops.

All other duties as requested by line manager.


Team Working and Leadership
Contribute to the continued development of the hospice's retail strategy in a creative and imaginative way.

To develop a strong retail team spirit.

Creates and continually develops effective relationships with staff and volunteers at all levels and in all areas.


Makes appropriate use of volunteer help, involving volunteers in all aspects of fundraising, liaising with the Volunteer Services Co-ordinator on recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of volunteers.


Education


Be willing to undertake further education and training as part of professional development to meet the demands of the role.

Attend all mandatory training deemed appropriate by the hospice.


Finance
Work with the Head of Retail and Area Manager to keep track of monthly income and expenditure budgets.


General


Build long term sustainable relationships within the Calderdale Community at all levels and represent the organisation at key retail events and activities where applicable.


Build key relationships with other hospices and charities both within the area and nationally where the appropriate to remain competitive in the workplace.

Address any premises problems in a timely manner or other problems identified by the shop manager.

Ensure all shops at maintained to the same standard and incorporate Overgate's corporate branding.

Promote volunteering opportunities where and when appropriate.


Marketing
Ensure Marketing guidelines are adhered to within the shops and Donation Centre.

Maximise all PR and marketing opportunities for the hospice.

Raise the profile of Overgate Hospice at local, Regional, and national level.

To identify and develop opportunities to promote Overgate Hospice Retail within the community.


Audit and Research
To assist Area Manager in maintaining and developing standards within all Overgate Hospice shops and Donation Centre.

Work within all legal framework including but not exclusively, Institute of Fundraising, Charity commission, and Charity Retail Association.
