Axon Moore are working exclusively with a rapidly growing and well established logistics and wholesale business to appoint an experienced Management Accountant.

The business operates from their offices in Salford Quays.

The role will be a new additionto their team of 6 in the Management Accounts team and is the ideal role for someone who is looking to develop and gain exposure in a fulfilling role.

The role looks after one of their 2 main business divisions, looking after the month end process and management accounts process in its entirety.

Working closely with the other Management Accountant, you will report into the divisional MA and will have 1 directAssistant MA report as well as an Accounts Assistant as a shared resource.

The business is implementing Oracle Netsuite as a new ERP and as this is at user testing stage, you will be integral to the go live process around April time.


Salary and benefits:


Salary - £40,000 - £45,000 DOE, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, hybrid working 3 days in the office, 37.5 hour week with flexibility and company benefits and discounts package.


Responsibilities include:


  • Support in managing and developing 2 direct reports
  • Ensuring completeness of monthly fee invoicing, prepared on a timely basis in the most efficient manner possible
  • Production of accurate and timely management accounts
  • Ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations are carried out monthly including supplier statement reconciliations and the fixed asset register
  • Analysis of P&Ls versus budget, prior periods and prior year
  • Liaison with both client and suppliers to resolve queries and answer ad hoc requests
  • Improving the current finance processes and procedures, and constantly seeking efficiencies
  • Prepare year end reporting information for annual external audit purposes
  • Cash flow management taking into account key supplier payment processes and managing payment runs
  • Liaison with credit control function to ensure timely collection of fee invoicing
  • Support the commercial accountant in the production of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Liaison with the commercial team, the depot operational teams and the Commercial Accountant to highlight opportunities for increasing client profitability including active management of all cost areas
  • Ad hoc projects including financial analysis to support business decision making

Experience & Skill Requirements:


  • Part or nearly qualified and active ACCA/CIMA studier with 2+ years' experience or a Qualified By Experience Management Accountant.
  • Experience of managing direct reports is preferential
  • Strong excel skills in order to manage large volumes of data from current system
  • Experience of making improvements and changes in a fast moving environment which enhances profitability and the quality of management reporting
  • An inquisitive, proactive, problem solving nature is critical as is a drive for continuous improvement
  • Strong organisational skills with disciplined focus on task completion to be able to manage themselves and the team through all reporting cycles
  • Must be flexible and pragmatic in order to manage competing priorities to successful conclusion
  • Comfortable liaising with all levels of the business both inside and outside Finance, and external stakeholders
  • A team player, who can also work effectively independently, whilst leading their team to successful outcomes
  • Excellent attention to detail, whilst also capable of understanding the bigger picture
