YMCA Wellington and District have nearly 40 units of supported accommodation in Wellington for individuals aged Additionally, we are set to open our move-on scheme, New College Apartments, in May 2024.

This expansion marks an exciting time for our organisation as we continue to empower young people and make a positive impact in the community.

We are looking a Maintenance Officer to join our team, providing good quality homes for our residents.


Whether you're a qualified tradesperson or a dedicated DIY enthusiast, if you have the ability to tackle a variety of tasks with precision and efficiency, we want to hear from you.


Working under our Senior Housing Officer you will:

  • Perform a variety of maintenance tasks to maintain high standards in our housing properties, including painting, plumbing repairs, furniture assembly, gritting pathways, and oven cleaning.
  • Turn around void properties quickly to reduce rent loss
  • Ensure that all maintenance work is completed to a high standard and in line with our repairs timescales.
  • Collaborate with our inhouse staff team and external contractors to complement existing skills and resources.
  • Uphold the highest possible quality standards for every home we let, contributing to resident satisfaction and retention.
  • Update and track repairs and maintenance tasks

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Previous experience in similar role is preferred.
  • Ability to perform a variety of repairs and maintenance tasks with precision and efficiency.
  • Basic IT knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a sense of humour, patience, and confidence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance for travel between sites.
  • Undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to starting with a satisfactory outcome
