Hewins Oak is a well-established family business, built upon the vision to be the supplier of choice for Oak in construction throughout the UK.

Over the past 20 years, Hewins has steadily grown and developed, with a strong team that believe in and support our vision, mission and values.

Hewins is looking to grow and expand throughout the UK, increasing sales of our ever popular sawn and planed Oak products so that's why we need you


We are seeking someone with passion and enthusiasm to join our Customer Sales department at our site in South Petherton, Somerset.

Working within a busy existing team of 7 you will be required to provide excellent customer service through an high standard of telephone, face-to-face and electronic communication with new and existing customers along with advising the best product solutions and providing accurate quoting and sales negotiation.


The role is fast paced and sometimes pressurised and will require popping out into our yard to check stocks or look at products.

You will be joining a focused team were we help each other, muck in, get the job done and have some fun along the way.

A sense of humor will be helpful

Responsibilities:

_

  • Answer incoming telephone calls in a timely and professional manner. Building rapport with customers and enjoying speaking to customers.
  • Accurately and efficiently handle customer enquiries, negotiate prices, generate and followup quotations in view of winning sales and processing enquiries into orders
  • Professionally handle customer queries and complaints, and resolve any issues in line with personal level of responsibility
  • Advise customers on Hewins' products and services
  • Take part in daily telesales routine/campaigns to develop customer relations and grow sales
  • Serve customers at the trade counter and handle their enquiries accordingly
  • Meet with customers to discuss their projects and needs.
  • Occasional visits customers as required
  • Assist with any other reasonable tasks as required


This is not an exhaustive list and you are required to be flexible in your approach to carrying out your duties which may change from time to time in order to respond to current business needs or for the Company's continuous improvement.

  • Fluent English language spoken
  • Good telephone & face to face interaction
  • Interpersonal skills the ability to work well in a team you will need to draw on all areas of the company to be successful (Purchasing, Production, Finance)
  • Ability to think creatively and take initiative
  • Excellent product and market knowledge (preferred) each enquiry is different and requires a resourceful and sensible approach to align our abilities to supply the goods with the expectations of the customer
  • Good negotiation skills

  • Working knowledge of IT programs
  • Practical and logical; the ability to solve problems quickly and accurately
  • High level of professionalism some experiences in Sales are frustrating and some are enjoyable. You will need to be able to handle a variety of different situations and customer types

  • Previous experience of working in a Sales / Customer Service role or similar (preferred)
