Description

The housekeeping team plays a vital role ensuring that the hospital and associated buildings are clean.

This is a key element both of reducing hospital acquired infections and in maintaining the public's positive image of the hospital.

Housekeeping Assistants also have key patient interactions, serving meals and beverages to patients.

Providing and maintaining a safe, clean and tidy environment in accordance with work schedules and instructions, using the appropriate equipment provided.

Ensuring colour-coded equipment and cloths are used in the correct areas.

Cleaning barrier and terminal rooms, selecting the correct chemical based on the infection in the room, both during a patient's stay and after discharge.

Changing curtains after discharge and use relevant equipment to ensure complete decontamination (when trained) Identify problems with cleanliness, remedy or report to your Supervisor.

Working with members of the ward nursing team to serve patient meals, ensuring meals accurately reflects the patient meal choices.

Ensure hot meals are probed after regeneration and the temperature recorded on the log sheet. Comply with food temperature, handling and issue procedures
