Our Team

Our Commercial team work with a wide range of interesting and diverse clients from large corporates to start-ups on a variety of commercial matters, including complex technology related contract work and more general commercial contract and advisory work across all sectors, supporting our clients at all stages of the business life-cycle.

Some of the things we've been doing recently:

Advising clients in the technology sector on various projects, including:

- high value global private sector supply contracts

UK public sector contracts

- group restructuring arrangements

Advising large corporates on their purchase of IT systems
Advising on consumer contracts across a number of sectors from funerals to vaccination services and event booking to digital content. We have also negotiated with the CMA to avoid regulatory action
Advising clients (domestic and global) on their data protection and data export compliance including being part of the lead team on a 22 country compliance program for a multinational manufacturer
Advising on proposed ICO enforcement action and fines
Advising educational establishments on their IT contracts and data protection compliance
Advising various UK sports related bodies on their contractual affairs
Advising on commercial contract terms for businesses across a wide range of sectors, from gaming to logistics, cookery schools to bullion dealers, motivational speakers to cosmetic surgeons, business centres to shoemakers, to name just a few

In addition to working with large corporates, we continue to enjoy working with small and start-up business, giving them access to the specialist advice usually only available to larger companies.

Our team members actively participate in the firm's multi-disciplinary sector/focus groups, including manufacturing, education and ESG, as well as its international groups such as US, Latam and Iberian, French and Chinese groups.

Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

Working as an Associate within the team, you'll have the opportunity to both work on and lead a varied and interesting caseload and this is a superb opportunity to develop your knowledge and expertise working as part of a successful team in one of the UK's leading law firms.

Irwin Mitchell is a client-focused firm and as such, you must be passionate about client care and maintain a professional demeanour even in challenging environments.

Given the nature of the role, you will be able to work pragmatically with the ability to prioritise your workload as required.

Using your strong technical understanding and relevant market experience, you'll work to participate in relevant practice development initiatives, take a proactive role in business development opportunities and keep up to date with changes in relevant law and practice.

To drive best practice further, you will be an exceptional team player with strong leadership skills and possess the ability to work collaboratively to deliver the best outcomes for our clients and to develop other team members.
