Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Bulk Operator role involves inspecting vehicles as part of a pre-load check & using loading equipment to fulfil shipment requirements on behalf of our client.

You will be required to have interaction with staff, the client & visiting drivers.

Required / desired skills & experience;

• Basic knowledge of petrochemical industry desirable but not essential
• Flexible attitude to working, including overtime when required to suit the business needs
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, customers & colleagues at all levels
• Basic knowledge of health, safety, quality & environmental policies & legislation applicable to the industry
• Basic numeracy skills
• Ability to cope with pressure
• Positive approach to problems or setbacks
• Team orientated
• ICT literate (most inspections / load work is done using tablets)
• Forklift truck license would be advantageous but not essential

Key responsibilities / duties;

• Setting up silos for loading activities & ensuring all information is read, understood & processed correctly in relation to loading functions. This will involve moving equipment, opening valves, etc.
• Perform silo cleaning activities when requested by the client which involves positioning cleaning pipes for automated cleans
• Housekeeping duties, such as blowing, sweeping & collecting spilled pellet / rubbish to keep the terminal as tidy as is reasonably practicable. Furthermore, ensuring the silo loading area is free from spilled pellet as far as is reasonable, using the road sweeper machine (training will be provided)
• Carry out, as required, quality & safety checks on third party equipment, such as vehicle condition, tanker condition, loading gear, etc.
• Ensure new silo transfers of product are checked & information recorded (silo sampling) before commencing loading
• Removal of excess product from vehicle loading area as per Operation Clean Sweep requirements.
• Calculating the loading times required for each shipment based on known flow rates.
• Cooperate with the SHEQ team with audits & investigations, meetings & suggest improvements where appropriate.
• Support other required positions / functions during times of limited resource as far as is reasonable.
• Any other reasonable request as instructed by the Site Manager / Operations Manager.
• Carry out weekly maintenance checklists on silo loading equipment.
