The Role:


The role is to ensure all work and projects are manufactured to our high-quality standards, specifications, delivered on time and within or below budget on a daily basis.

Working with other managers, you will assist in strengthening our manufacturing processes and procedures, build on quality assurance while working to our ISO 9001 quality management standards and be responsible for implementing and maintaining Lean methodologies.

You will be involved both 'hands-on' and with the senior management to set standards, minimise waste, maximise efficiencies across shifts and strive to maintain a positive and motivated working culture by mentoring and coaching of the company's five Team Leaders.


Responsibilities:


  • Work with Production Planner using ERP/MRP systems to allocate and maximise available resource, personnel and equipment efficiently and safely
  • Ensure shopfloor data is accurately collected, collated and reported in a timely manner
  • Be a champion of Lean activities, 5s, Total Productive Maintenance and visual management
  • Day to day manufacturing process management across the site to meet business needs
  • Evaluation of performances through KPI analysis and set countermeasures
  • Monitor suppliers, reduce costs and lead times
  • Set up 'just in time' material supply to reduce stock held
  • To work within the company's Quality Management System
  • Ensure consistency of production and work with engineering and shopfloor departments to make improvements to quality and implement action plans
  • Promote the company's business strategy for growth
  • Work with Team Leaders to instil pride in their work within each team member
  • Motivate departments, including performance management, development, welfare and target monitoring
  • Work with engineers to improve and rationalise designs
  • Develop and encourage progressive and accountable teams through continuous improvement
  • Flexibility to stay late or arrive early to ensure shopfloor operates effectively
  • Ensure procedures and processes are adhered to
  • Key other duties that may be required from time to time within the scope of this role profile and qualified by prior training & experience

  • Reduce total cycle time to increase available hours
  • Minimise rework and reduce waste
  • Direct employee retention
  • Balance capacity by agile job scheduling and reduce energy usage
  • Consistent approach to quality is achieved
  • To reduce quality nonconformances by departmental ownership
  • Record improvements made to ensure improved quality & maintain documentation
  • 10 years minimum in a similar manufacturing managerial role with a proven track record
  • Manufacturing management qualification such as ILM level 5 or higher
  • Ability to cope under pressure without affecting judgement
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of business with calm approach
  • Commercial and organisational focus
  • Previous experience in onsite production growth projects
  • Use of Lean management tools such as Six Sigma or 5s implementation, improvement and continuity
  • Evidence of previous experience in cost reduction programmes
  • Identify and implement effective actions to address any manufacturing issues
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving abilities
  • Attention to detail at all production stages, following processes and where necessary improving them
  • Sheet steel fabrication experience an advantage
  • Excellent understanding of the company quality management standards system
  • Ability to work in accordance with ISO 9001 guidelines
  • Accurate reporting ensuring data captured is correct
  • Professional reporting and presentation at monthly management meetings
  • To understand all aspects of manufacturing processes & work with colleagues to streamline
