What will your duties include?

  • Support all internal and external providers in the use of PACS/VNA, RIS and third party Systems.
  • Manage and support all digital image transfers (import/export/archive).
  • Provide support for Clinical Imaging Systems equipment in clinical areas.
  • Ensure data accuracy of patient information on all Clinical Imaging Systems.
  • Daily administration of reporting workstation, checking event logs, correcting any errors in patient study data in line with department protocols.
  • Have complete understanding of local rules and Imaging Services departmental policies and procedures.
  • Installation/removal/repair of PACS/VNA software on all viewing workstations.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the following specialised system (indicative list only and nonexhaustive):
  • Radiology, Cardiology and Other Imaging Workflows
  • Syngo Dynamic
  • Terarecon
  • Brainlab / TraumaCad
  • Orpheus CAST
  • Nuance PS 360
  • Zeiss (Ophthalmology)
  • Syngo VIA
  • Digitiser
  • CD burning software used to produce CDs of patient images
  • CR software used in the post processing of plain film
  • Workstation used in the post processing of MRI
  • Workstation used in the post processing of CT
  • Orthopaedic electronic templating software used to pre plan operations such as hip joint replacements
  • Other Third Party DICOM systems
  • Responsible for daytoday operation of PACS/VNA, Cardiology systems including image workflow, archiving, autorouting, prefetching and other related activities.
  • Work closely with radiology quality management caregivers to identify and design future needs and efficient workflow processes, which include further integration into operations.
  • Support other departments related to medical imaging initiatives and procedures and assisting with existing or new medical imaging endeavours.
  • Support activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new systems.
  • Promote best practice with regard to Clinical Imaging Systems.
  • Be an integral part of the first line support for clinical users, establishing quality control procedures in conjunction with the IT Clinical System Support team and PACS/VNA providers.
  • Check daily that the all Clinical Imaging Systems are functioning, ensuring that problems and concerns are documented fully and communicated to the Provider(s).
  • Support new user IDs and Passwords for system users and change, in consultation with the Imaging Service Manager
  • Ensure that all clinical and other information records are fully and accurately completed.
  • Organise and deliver training to a wide range of clinical and nonclinical Caregivers at the appropriate level.
  • Support GDPR data retention and removal of data
  • Attend and participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
  • Attend seminars and training sessions necessary to maintain appropriate level of professional competence.
  • Perform other functions as required and/or assigned.
  • Act in accordance with, contribute and be involved in revision, training and implementation of departmental and professional policies and procedures such as:
  • Health and Safety including risk assessments
  • Radiation Protection Procedures
  • Ionisation Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R17)
  • Quality Assurance Programs
  • Clinical Governance
  • Information Governance
  • Liaising with IT, ensuring PACS/VNA capacity management for long term data in line with data retention policy.
  • Responsible for delivering of training. Carry out other work and duties as workload may require. Develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
What we need from you?

  • Minimally a BSc(Hons) Radiography / Computer Science / Health Informatics, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent required.
  • Professions Council or equivalent IT/Healthcare experience essential.
  • PACS Administrator training essential.
  • Current valid Healthcare Professional Council (HCPC) registration desired.
